Getting Kids Fit With Fun
PDPlay was selected to design and build a custom fitness course by the Sweetwater Union School District. The San Diego Chargers charity, Chargers Community Foundation, funded the fitness course through the Chargers Champions program, which provides grants to San Diego County schools for physical fitness, nutrition, and athletic programs on their campuses.
The Castle Park Fitness Course was created as a full fitness regimen and incorporated a collection of hurdle jumps, vault walls, a ring maze, and more. It was designed to promote all aspects of fitness including balance, speed, agility, and coordination, as well as overall athletic performance.
We outfitted the entire course with our poured-in-place rubberized surfacing, providing a safe, durable, and environmentally friendly foundation that will require minimal for the school to maintain.
As with all of our projects, the Castle Park Fitness Course was designed to be much more than just a play space. The area will be used for years to come as a place to educate kids and their parents on the benefits of physical activity, as well as strengthen their minds and bodies while learning self-confidence and personal motivation.
With the Castle Park Fitness Course, we hope to prepare kids physically, mentally, socially and emotionally for a lifetime of healthy habits.
