Outdoor Learning Environment at El Norte

Having been in the commercial playground industry for over 25 years, I have been asked to design some strange things: submarines, sand airplanes, spiral slides coming from the fifth floor of an office building down to the lobby, and even a bathroom-equipped tree house! In February of this year, we were asked to look at some very large stumps and logs from a eucalyptus tree that had been removed from a site where a low »

Outdoor Learning Environment at La Jolla United Methodist Church

La Jolla United Methodist Church’s CDC director contacted us to help design and build an Outdoor Learning Environment. As with many of our jobs, they had a small space but big dreams. There were a total of four separate playgrounds each designed and built to accomodate a specific developmental grouping of children ranging from 0 to 6 years of age. The landscape architect who designed the center wanted a Reggio Emelia approach to the »
