Description
Everyone should get the opportunity to swing! Every child should have the memory of swinging to and fro on a swing set. However, for a child with special needs, swinging is not only a fun activity, it is helping the child develop.
Studies have shown that special needs children learn better and retain more information when being taught while swinging. A child may show signs of less anxiety, improved behavior, and more focus. Swinging while learning has also been found to aid in improved eye contact, response, and speech skills.
Sensory integration therapy often includes swinging, which has shown improvements of fine motor skills, balance, touch, and spatial awareness.
Playing on swings helps develop relationships. A shared play experience can improve imagination, communication, and interactions with others. It can provide a positive experience that develops empathy for others. Although a child may have special needs, they still need the opportunity to be a kid. Swinging can help develop socialization skills and promote healthy interaction with their peers.
The S190 swing is made of durable rotational molded plastic. All of the hardware, excluding the chain, are made of stainless steel to prevent rust. The attachment points are reinforced to prevent breakage. Swing frame height is not required when ordering. The swing will come with chains to accommodate an 8’ swing frame height. The swing will come with a tamper-proof stainless steel shackle H171 and special wrench H175 to attach a separate chain to accommodate various frame heights. Please see the chart below for length of chain needed for frame heights. The reclining position of the swing is adjustable based on where the shackle is located on the chain.
The newly designed S190 accessible swing seat offers physically challenged children the opportunity to swing. The new rotational-molded design offers exceptional strength and meets ADA Standards, as well as CPSC and ASTM Standards. The new design offers added support, wider sides, larger armrests and larger footrests. The adjustable chains allows for multiple reclining positions of the swing for added comfort and support.
The new design includes a yoke and a unique locking system. This yoke does not need to be detached in order to meet ASTM and CPSC head entrapment standards. If further support is required, an optional removable harness is available for purchase. This harness is meant to further secure the child and does not meet ASTM and CPSC standards for head entrapment and can cause a strangulation hazard. At no time should the harness be left on an unattended swing. Jensen Swing Products will not assume liability for injuries caused by the optional harness.
With its partially reclined, body-embracing design and overhead yoke system, the Jensen S190 offers special needs children a fun, safe, and comfortable ride.
Colors: Black, Blue, Green, Red and Yellow. All swings come with a Yellow Yoke.
