Your playground, if not properly sanitized, can become a hazard to public health and safety. To keep your playground safe for children and the community, a routine cleaning schedule is necessary is combatting the spread of viruses and bacteria.
Clean, Sanitize, Disinfect
Knowing the difference…
Cleaning is a process designed to eliminate debris from a surface or item. Cleaning also reduces the total microorganism count. It should be followed by rinsing.
Sanitizing is a chemical process that lessens and even kills germs on surfaces to make them safe for contact. Sanitizing helps reduce the count of a variety of potentially dangerous microorganisms.
Disinfecting destroys most microorganisms or pathogens from an area, surface, object, or item. Disinfection involves the use of what are known as antimicrobial agents. Disinfecting provides an extra layer of protection by totally eliminating harmful microorganisms and hard-to-kill viruses.
You should always begin by cleaning, then sanitize or disinfect. Even after extensive cleaning, germs may still be present. Properly cleaning then sanitizing or disinfecting will reduce harmful germs and the risk of spreading harmful viruses and disease on the playground
Routine is key!
Your playground must be cleaned and sanitized often to reduce the spread of dangerous bacteria and pathogens. Remember to clean surfaces thoroughly with soapy water before sanitizing. Not only will this help keep your playground clean and safe, but it also helps to reassure cautious parents.
What else do I need to know?
